Young white wines are those that have been recently produced and have not undergone prolonged aging processes in oak barrels or in the bottle. They are known for their freshness, liveliness, and fruity expression.

How are young white wines made?

The young white wines are made through a winemaking process that prioritizes the freshness and fruity expression of the grapes. First, high-quality white grapes are selected and picked at their optimum point of ripeness. Once in the winery, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed to obtain the must, which is the juice of the grapes without the skins.

The fermentation of the must is carried out in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, using selected yeasts or natural yeasts present in the skin of the grapes. This fermentation process can last between one and three weeks, during which the sugar in the must is transformed into alcohol and the characteristic aromas and flavors of the wine develop.

 

Once the fermentation is finished, the young white wine is separated from the lees (solid fermentation residues) and it is clarified and stabilized. Subsequently, the wine is bottled and is ready for immediate consumption.

Young white wines are characterized by having light and bright colors, with tones that vary depending on the grape variety used. On the nose, they usually offer intense and fresh aromas of fruits such as citrus, apples, pears, peaches, and white flowers.
