Buy Rosé Wines D.O. Alella

The rosé wines with Designation of Origin (D.O.) Alella come from a small wine region located in the province of Barcelona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. Alella is known for its winemaking tradition and its production of high-quality wines, both red, white and rosé.

What grape varieties can we find in the rosé wines of Alella?

In the rosé wines of the D.O. Alella, we find an interesting combination of red grape varieties that provide different characteristics to the wine. Some of the most common varieties used in making these wines are Garnacha (Grenache) and Merlot, which offer fruity flavors and a smooth structure to the wine. It is also possible to find rosé wines from Alella made with other red varieties such as Pinot Noir and Syrah, which provide more intense and complex fruit notes. The careful selection of these grapes, as well as the short maceration process, allow us to obtain rosé wines with an attractive color, a distinctive freshness and a perfect balance between acidity and fruit flavors.

The combination of these varieties makes Alella rosé wines a refreshing and versatile option, ideal for pairing with a wide range of dishes and to be enjoyed on any occasion.

How are Alella rosé wines made?

The rosé wines of the D.O. Alella are made using the short maceration method. Red grapes, such as Garnacha, Merlot, Pinot Noir or Syrah, are harvested at their optimum point of ripeness and taken to the winery. There, they are gently pressed to extract the must, which encounters the skins of the grapes for a short period of time, usually a few hours or up to a day. During this maceration process, the natural pigments present in the skins stain the must and give it its characteristic pink color. Once the desired color has been achieved, the must is separated from the skins and fermentation begins.

Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures to preserve the characteristic aromas and fruit flavors of the grapes. Once the fermentation is finished, the rosé wines from Alella undergo clarification and stabilization processes before being bottled and placed on the market. The result is a fresh and refreshing rosé wine, with an attractive color palette that can range from pale pinks to more intense and vibrant tones. On the nose, they display fruity aromas such as strawberries, raspberries, and cherries, along with subtle floral and herbaceous notes. On the palate, they are light and balanced, with a refreshing acidity and a fruity expression that makes them ideal to enjoy on warm days.

Alella rosé wines are a true expression of the region's winemaking tradition and reflect the effort and care of producers to offer high-quality wines with a distinctive character.
