At the mouth of the Loire, southeast of Nantes, is the AOC Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, controlling the cultivation and processing of grapes in 23 municipalities, between the rivers Sèvre and Maine. With a minimum density of 6500 vines/ha, around 42 million liters of wine are produced, standing out for its freshness and minerality.
The varied soils of igneous and metamorphic rocks, covered with gravel, sand and clay, offer ideal terrain for the cultivation of the muscadet grape, also known as Bourgogne melon.
The characteristic elaboration method of Muscadet wines is "sur lie", in which the wines remain in contact with their lees until bottling, favoring a creamy sensation and a fresh balance. The communal crus of Clisson, Gorges and Le Pallet stand out, recognized for their uniqueness in vinification.
Muscadet is one of the most well-known white wines in France, perfect to pair with seafood, especially oysters, and to enjoy on warm summer days. Its light body and strong acidity make it versatile and delicious for any occasion.
