Mencía Rosé Wines

The Mencía grape is a native grape of the North-West of the Iberian Peninsula, outside that area we do not find this variety in other vineyards. The Mencía grape adapts perfectly to the temperate and humid climate of the Atlantic, very different from the Mediterranean climate. Mencía rosé wines have been gaining fame and are currently a variety that has a great aging capacity. That is why we find Mencía aged wines, Mencía grand reserva wines and also Mencía black young.

Where is the Mencía black variety grown?

The Mencía grape is the native variety of the province of León, particularly of the D.O. Bierzo, D.O. Valdeorras and D.O. Ribeira Sacra In these areas they achieve an exceptional wine level that marks the personality of the territory where the wine is produced. Mencía Ribeira Sacra wines or Mencía Bierzo wines are of high quality, unique and incomparable. They have enormous vineyards with great wine productions of the Mencía variety.

What are the particularities of rosé wine from the Mencía grape?

The Mencía grape has a similar color and texture to the Cabernet Franc variety, although the characteristics of the Mencía grape are very different. Raspberry-like in color with exotic tones. The nose has floral aromas, rosé fruits and mineral touches. In the mouth it gains a great expression of the terroir with an extravagant sweetness.
