Ballantine's Glentauchers is a single malt whiskey from the Speyside region, Scotland, aged in American white oak barrels for 15 years.
The history of Ballantine's Scotch Whiskey begins in the Scottish town of Edinburgh in 1827. George Ballantine opened a small grocery store there at just 19 years of age with a stand including wine and spirits, after a new law in 1823 allowed the distillation of Scotch whiskey by individuals. The business flourished and in 1837 he moved the business to the prestigious South Bridge area, near Princes Street, in Edinburgh.
The Speyside region is mainly known for being one of the main centers of whiskey production in the country. It is famous for being home to a large concentration of single malt Scotch whiskey distilleries, many of which are known throughout the world. - George Ballantine and Son LTD
