German Gins

German gins are noted for their quality, precision, and focus on local botanicals. They offer a wide variety of styles and flavors, and the German gin scene is marked by innovation and creativity. If you get the chance, I recommend trying some German gins to discover their distinctive character and enjoy the diversity of options they offer.

How are German gins made?

German gins are made through a distillation process using carefully selected botanicals. First, the botanicals are macerated or placed in the base alcohol, which is generally neutral, such as grain alcohol. Common botanicals used include juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, citrus peel, licorice, cardamom, and spices. After maceration, the mixture is distilled in copper or stainless-steel stills to extract the flavors and aromas of the botanicals. The distillation process may involve one or several distillations to obtain the desired purity and quality. Some German gins may also go through an additional filtration process to further refine their flavor. Once distilled, the gin is diluted with water to the desired alcohol content and bottled for distribution and enjoyment.

The result is a high-quality German gin with distinctive flavor profiles and meticulous attention to detail throughout the brewing process.

What German Gin brands are there?

There are several well-known German gin brands on the market.
